Dear Readers,
Welcome to Shine On Hollywood Magazine’s (SOHM) 3rd Annual NATAS Special Edition Issue! The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was founded in 1955. Throughout their 69-year history, the Daytime Emmy Awards have been giving back to the community while providing an entertaining celebration of daytime television each year. For this reason, SOHM has proudly covered the Daytime ceremonies for the past three years in Special Edition yearbooks.
For full coverage of this unique event, including ceremony highlights, pictures, videos, and a complete list of nominees and winners, you won’t find a more complete source than this issue!
For 11 years now, SOHM has been putting a spotlight on inspirational, positive stories focusing on people that, despite personal struggles, have made it in “Hollywood.” However, their stories don’t end there -- these individuals are now finding ways to give back to others, facing their life successes and struggles, by lending their time and resources.
It has been my honor for people to share these stories with me and our writers and, in turn, bring them to you, our readers. We will continue highlighting these individuals who faced their adversities but overcame then reached out a hand to support others.
This month's cover story features Michael Stern. He is an author and devotee of Lucille Ball and grew up watching popular TV shows like The Brady Bunch, Mary Tyler Moore or I Love Lucy. He would attend many TV shows at the NBC Studios in Burbank or the CBS/MTM studios in Studio City. He came face to face with the “Hollywood Dream” and lived to tell about it and what a story it is.
Our next edition will be the Top Music Industry Issue. In it, we will explore, highlight, and celebrate many areas of Terpsichore achievement. You can look forward to personal interviews with and anecdotes from several unique individuals. Representing different backgrounds, ages, and experiences, these people all have one thing in common: a love for music.
Until then, please enjoy this issue! I appreciate your continued support for Shine On Hollywood Magazine and its mission. We remain a gossip and politics-free publication as we continue to bring you inspiring coverage of “Real People, Real Stories.” Instead of including content and subjects that divide, we pledge to only publish content that brings us together. Rather than just focusing on A-listers and celebrities who are household names, we like to feature professionals in the arts and entertainment world who are truly making a difference and giving back to the community, even if they are not big names. We encourage you to let them be your motivation!
Thank you for your support!

AWARD YEARBOOKSHFPA / Golden Globe Awards Limited Special Edition Yearbook Issues:
4th Annual HFPA Special Edition Issue of SOHM Featuring the 78th Golden Globes Awards 2021 This limited 4th Annual special edition of Shine On Hollywood Magazine ("SOHM") issue. Throughout their 78-year history, the Golden Globe Awards have given back to the community while providing an entertaining celebration of the best in film and television each year. For this reason, SOHM has proudly covered the Golden Globe ceremonies for the past four years in Special Edition yearbooks. This year, the Golden Globe Awards looked very different because of the virtual format, but the HFPA worked to make it a memorable event. Celebrities gathered in the Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom in Los Angeles and in the Rainbow Room in New York to act as presenters at the awards ceremony, which was hosted from opposite sides of the country by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Nominees dressed up (for the most part) and congregated in front of their home screens with friends, family, and pets to await the announcement of winners! The HFPA continued its tradition of celebrating for a good cause this year. Its philanthropic partner was Feeding America, the largest hunger-relief and food rescue organization in the United States, which has provided food to millions of people throughout the pandemic. Also on a philanthropic note, Sean Penn spoke at the awards ceremony about the Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE), the non-profit organization he founded in 2010; the HFPA donated to CORE because of its efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the audience wasn’t filled with celebrities, the HFPA invited first responders and Feeding America food bank workers to attend the ceremony in person. This thoughtful gesture provided a small but appreciative live audience to the festivities, as well as showing appreciation for these public servants. For full coverage on this unique event, including ceremony highlights, pictures, videos, and a complete list of nominees and winners, you won’t find a more complete source than this issue! 3rd Annual HFPA Special Edition Issue of SOHM Featuring the 77th Golden Globes Awards 2020
We are facing daunting times with many questions and few certain answers. However, one thing is certain -- we will get through this together as a family, as a nation and as a world. Our nation and much of the world was embroiled in another struggle 75 years ago that also delivered a staggering toll--World War II. People at that time were also hungry for some form of diversion and sought out films as a form of escape. That is when a small group of international journalists based in Los Angeles banded together to share the latest in entertainment news from home and around the world to fill that hunger. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the organization behind the Golden Globes, was formed. Shine On Hollywood Magazine is proud to bring back our special 3rd Annual GOLDEN GLOBE ISSUE celebrating the HFPA and the 77th Golden Globe Awards at a time where we all, once again, could use a little diversion. The Golden Globes is often thought of as the “Party of the Year” in the entertainment world and the Shine On Hollywood Magazine team was there to cover all the best moments. The talent, plus the fashion, plus the Hollywood heavyweights, plus the over-the-top parties all under one roof equals an incredible and yes, golden night! 2nd Annual HFPA Special Edition Issue of SOHM Featuring the 76th Golden Globes Awards 2019
This limited special SOHM edition its 2nd Annual of Hollywood Foreign Press Association (the “HFPA”) yearbook featuring former presidents of HFPA Philip Berk has been a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for more than 40 years, serving 8 years as its president. The Annual Golden Globes is often thought of as the “Party of the Year” in the entertainment world! It’s a celebration of the HFPA, the organization behind the Golden Globes. It’s also a testament to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (the “HFPA”)! What started with a small group of international journalists based in Los Angeles who banded together to share the latest in entertainment news from home and around the world has turned into the glitzy and revered celebration of the year honoring the best in film and television. It also raises money to fund the HFPA Charitable Trust which, in the past 31 years, has given away more than $33 million in fellowships and grants to film schools and non-profit organizations. In addition, we celebrate the life of an American entertainment icon of stage and screen. She radiated vitality with a zest for life that made her the star of any scene she was in – our tribute to Carol Channing! “I am excited about introducing our 2nd Annual of HFPA - 76th Golden Globe Awards 2019 yearbook special edition available on digital and print in full color that showcase A-list celebrities from the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards. We will continue to bring real people real stories from Hollywood with positive outlooks from around the world," said Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Arnold Garcia. 1st Annual HFPA Special Edition Issue of SOHM Featuring the 75th Golden Globes Awards 2018 This limited special edition of Shine On Hollywood Magazine ("SOHM") issue featuring the publication’s focus on the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (the “HFPA") history and the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards; showcasing red carpet photos and videos of nominees and winners!Although the Golden Globes is often thought of as the “Party of the Year” in the entertainment world, it is that but also so much more. It’s also a celebration of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (the “HFPA”), the organization behind the Golden Globes. The HFPA started during World War II when people were hungry for some form of diversion and sought out films as a form of escape. A small group of international journalists based in Los Angeles banded together to share the latest in entertainment news from home and around the world to fill this hunger. The HFPA created the Golden Globe awards ceremony to further their goals of highlighting the world of entertainment. Today, the glitzy affair celebrates the best in film and television and also raises money to fund the HFPA Charitable Trust which, in the past 31 years, has given away more than $29 million in fellowships and grants to film schools and non-profit organizations.
